I've finished the Turtle Bay Scarf/Shawl using Luna Effects from Stacy Charles. You need to stop by and touch the scarf to see how wonderful it feels.
We now carry the Traditional natural color yarns from Cestari. This yarn is 100% a Virginia product. The sheep are raised here (Columbia and merino cross) and the yarn is milled by Cestari here. We're carrying his 'worsted' weight wool. In addition to the natural colors, there are two dyed colors that are favorites from years past and we have those two colors: Blue Denim Heather and Blackberry.
Cestari also produces a cotton blend fingering yarn, Montpelier. The cotton used in this yarn is raised in Virginia and milled by Cestari in Virginia. Those of you who are looking for a cotton blend for socks, this is the answer.
Ask us to show you this yarn the next time you stop by the shop.

4 November 2013
Halloween is behind us and Thanksgiving is just ahead. The weather is turning cold and now is the time to start knitting socks, scarves, cowls and hats. These are simple projects completed quickly and can be salted away for that special gift.
Starting on Saturday, November 30th we will be having a Stacy Charles yarn tasting. There will be yarns for you to sit and knit with - test if you wish. What a great way to try out a new fall yarn. We'll try to include a few surprise yarns
At the same time on November 30 and December 1, we will be having a sit and knit. Just what you will need - a calm environment to relax in and knit. Just what you need after a holiday.
Remember, you can always ask to test knit a yarn that we have in the shop. All you have to do is ask!
I hope to see you Thanksgiving weekend.

11 November 2011
This is a day of remembrance for all who have given up their lives so that we may be the country that we are.
Well, the yarn is flooding in faster than I can write about it. We have many new yarns in stock now so do stop by when you have a chance and we'll show you what is new.
This year's PJ Party was just the best. We were honored to have Stacy Charles, from Tahki/Stacy Charles, come to speak to the group. Stacy's years in the business of fashion were the knowledge base of the presentation. The participants were able to ask questions about the industry and get answers that were not only surprising but informative. There were discussion about the selection of yarns and how that happens. How the mills work. How the colors for a given season get chosen (and by whom).
We were also privileged to a showing of not only the 2012 Spring yarns but of the models. The models were barely off the knitters needles. Stacy had to return with the models for the photo session that was to take place on Monday morning for the pattern book. These were models that no one had seen but us.
This was quite a special PJ Party.
The dates for next year's PJ Party are October 26 - 28, 2012. Mark your calendars now.
We're also going to Bermuda again! This time it will be for six days instead of five at very little increase in cost. The sail date is May 11, 2012 from Baltimore. For more information you can find the details on my web site. We would love to have you join us on board for a relaxing knitting trip.
